About the Author

Barbara Manna is a special education teacher at Southern Regional High School in Manahawkin, NJ. She has taught special education students ranging from kindergarten through twelfth grade. She spent the first five years of her career teaching in Arlington, VA and has been working at Southern Regional High School since 1993.

Barbara is member of the large, experienced and dedicated special education department at Southern Regional. She, her colleagues and their students have directly experienced the negative effects of the real-life application of the NCLB regulations. Through writing letters, she is hoping that the voice of professionals in the field will be heard by those who have, and are, formulating educational policy.
